The Guardian: Cocktail of the week: a supercharged sherry-based tipple from the bar queen at Bellita in Bristol: Put hairs on your chest with an Adonis from Bristol’s most talked about new bar/restaurant

A shim is a bit of wood used to stop a  table wobbling; it’s also a cocktail that’s relatively low in alcohol – something to straighten you out but not knock you sideways. This is a new addition to our shim list and serves 10; it keeps in the fridge for up to two weeks, though you’ll probably drink it all well before then.
15g coffee beans
250ml sweet vermouth (ie Martini Rosso)
250ml fino sherry
Leave the coffee beans to infuse in the vermouth at room temperature for 15 minutes, then strain and mix with the sherry. Pour into a clean bottle, freeze for an hour or so, then serve in small chilled glasses.

Fazit: Großbritannien ist ein Trinkerparadies.
